Students and beer
(CleverForm survey conducted
among 11,400 college/university
students in Europe during
2001)
|
|
During last year,
CleverForm had conducted an interestic
and somewhat humorous survey among
11,400 students. The topic was
Beer, and the popularity of this
beverage among the students and
acadmic staff in general. Accompanying
this survey was an application
for students, professors and researchers
to use CleverForm resources without
charge for educational/non-commercial
purposes.
The response
to both these surveys was fantastic,
and several papers and research
works were created using CleverForm
technology.
On the other
hand, the results of these surveys
were thoroughly analyzed by CleverForm
experts in order to determine
the best way of presenting surveys
to general, untargeted audience.
Students were
divided in 4 equal groups, and
each received a different version
of the same questionnaire:
- Single-page questionnaire
embedded in e-mail message body
- Multi-page questionnare with
first page embedded in e-mail
- Single-page questionnaire
linked from within e-mail body
- Multi-page questionnaire linked
from within e-mail body
The results were mostly what we
expected:

In other words, we have concluded
that the best way to present a
lengthy questionnaire is to split
it into several pages, include
routing logic to avoid displaying
unnecessary questions, and preferably
send first questionnaire page
embedded in e-mail message body.
CleverForm is constantly fielding
similar surveys to establish the
best way to extract and pinpoint
the required information from
wide target groups.
